View all FAQsDoes acupuncture hurt?
Most patients feel little to nothing. Acupuncture needles are hair-thin — about the width of a strand of hair. You may feel a gentle warmth, heaviness, or tingling, which practitioners call 'de qi.' Many patients relax deeply during their session. Individual experiences vary.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on your condition, its duration, and how your body responds. Dr. Marcela will discuss a personalized plan with you and reassess progress at each visit. Individual results vary.
Do you accept insurance?
Saint Lucie Acupuncture does not bill insurance directly. Payment is due at the time of service. Upon request, we can provide a detailed superbill that patients may submit to their insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Coverage and reimbursement depend on each individual plan. We accept major credit cards and typically accept FSA and HSA cards — please confirm eligibility with your plan administrator.
Is acupuncture safe?
When performed by a licensed acupuncturist, acupuncture has a well-established safety profile. We use only single-use, sterile, FDA-cleared needles and follow clean-needle technique standards.
What conditions do you commonly address with acupuncture?
Acupuncture is used as a complementary approach for a wide range of concerns — including pain, migraines, neuropathy, digestive issues, stress, sleep and fertility support. If you're unsure whether it's appropriate for you, we're happy to talk through your goals during an in-office consultation.
